About us

We are a small, woman-owned local business…

Our studio offers small classes with lots of personal attention. All our classes are open to all levels - beginners to advanced. Beginners will be given modifications to any exercises they are not yet able to do. Advanced attendees will be given added weights or more challenging modifications.

We like to know who is attending class, so we can tailor the workout to suit everyone’s needs. Therefore, we ask that you do text, call, or message us to let us know what class you are attending. We will have an online booking option as well in the near future.

WHAT IS THE BAR METHOD OR BARRE WORKOUT?

The Bar (or Barre) Method was developed Lieselotte Berk. Lieselotte Berk, also known by the nickname Lotte, was a German-born dancer and teacher. In 1959, she developed her own method of exercise, drawing on ballet moves and positions, that concentrated on the idea of building "core stability".

WHAT IS A CLASS LIKE?

A Barre class is an hour long. A class always begins with a 5 minute cardio warm up. After that we do a stretch using the barre. Then we do pushups - usually three different variations, followed by a shoulder stretch. Next, we move on to upper body work which involves weights. Upper body routines can be done on the floor or standing up. Upper body is followed by stretching of the muscles that were just worked. Then we move on to the lower body segment. There are many lower body barre routines. Some involve the barre, some are done on the floor, so use props such as the ball or ankle weights. The lower body is worked then stretched. Last, we do our core and abdominal work, followed by a final stretch to lengthen.
